Eksos N20
Intrinsic to the system philosophy of the Nokia EKSOS and ACM2 access products series – besides the provision of today’s services (t/r, ISDN, leased data lines up to 2 Mbit/s) – is their design for the bandwidth requirements of tomorrow.
In contrast to conventional access solutions with a V5.x converter, the EKSOS components permit an early standardized V5.2 termination (concentration) right at the transfer point from access technology to transmission medium.
As it is very difficult to predict how many customers will need which services in the future, the use of a decentralized connection node – like that of EKSOS – is highly recommendable. The decentralized access – in contrast to the wide-coverage structure – is based on the number of subscribers and market shares. Therefore, right from the start there is an opportunity to establish a flexible and needs-driven network with a low initial investment

Special features
- The EKSOS cross-connector is used for the switching of:
- n x 2 Mbit/s,
- n x 64 kbit/s,
- n x 16 kbit/s and
- nonblocking
- This also avoids using unnecessary transmission capacity.
- The remote V5.2 termination has the advantage that it is possible to branch from any node of the backbone to further SDH or switch locations.
