ECI XDM™ Access - TO-Core Transport Plattform
The XDM™ already merges classic SDH technology and the DWDM technology of the future in one system. The integration of these two system technologies in one device helps to keep your investment correspondingly low.
In the SDH technology domain the XDM™ supports all configurations up to transmission bandwidths of 10 Gbit/s (STM-64), from terminal multiplexer to cross-connector.
The XDM™ is able to interconnect the signals (nonblocking) via the matrix up to VC-12 level. SDH interfaces STM-1 to STM-64 and PDH interfaces E1 to E4 are supported. The cross-connection capacity is 192 STM-1 equivalents and can be extended to max. 384 STM-1 equivalents.
In the DWDM technology domain the XDM™ can be upgraded to max. 40 channels. This system is available as a fixed OADM (Optical Add Drop Multiplexer). In the future it will also be available as an OCC (Optical Cross-Connector).
Brief description
The XDM™ combines the advantages of four fundamental components of a communication network:
- Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM)
- Digital cross-connector (DXC)
- DWDM/OADM system (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing)
- IP routing / MPLS edge router / ATM switch
- Every XDM™ subrack has a backplane capacity of 200 Gbit/s
- Every I/O connection has a capacity of up to 10 Gbit/s
- Powerful, nonblocking, high/low order matrix (4c/4/3/2/1)
- Flexible, highly integrated I/O interfaces (up to 16/32 STM-1 equivalents per slot)
